How to Deal with the Commonest Temporary Shelter Issues

Motorcycles, trucks, or cars are expensive investments that need to be protected from the bad weather elements. A portable garage is ideal for people who don’t have permanent garage. Most of the available portable carports or garages are strong and quite durable. This means that they are able to stand up to most weather elements. Still overtime you may experience problems with your temporary garage and shelters due to strong winds, heavy snow, storms, or the likes.

With this in mind, here are two of the commonest problems you might face with temporary shelters such as portable carports and ways to fix them.

Loose canopy

This happens due to a number of reasons or causes, the major one being a haphazardly setting up of the shelter. Frequent carport installation and taking it down with the change of the seasons always lead to different problems, the main one being the cover coming loose when stormy weather or severe winds hit your area.

The best way and tool to fix a loose canopy is use a spreader bar to properly and carefully spread the loose cover. You can easily acquire this tool from any good store that deals in carports or temporary shelters. Once you have gotten yourself a spreader bar, start by reading the instructions and then exactly following them so as to avoid issues when spreading the cover. Note also that different spreader bars work in different ways. Whichever you bought, make sure to place it between the top of the shelter frame and the cover and then cranking it to expand the bar. This has the effect of filling the space and pushing the cover up and back into its initial or original place.

Buckled or bent supports

This problem is most prevalent during the winter as a result of snow weighing down the roof of the shelter. The best way to prevent the supports from buckling or bending is to remove accumulated snow as soon as it is noticed, that is before it puts too much stress on the roof. Use mop to pull snow down from the outside of the shelter. Please avoid using brooms to clean it which can damage your cover. Be careful when you push the snow or other debris loaded on the roof top.

If the support beams are already too bent or buckled, it is recommended that you have them replaced before the damage gets more serious. Failure to do so means that your temporary shelter eventually could fall down, damaging the vehicle or items stored under it.

Instant garage shelters are a great way to protect your vehicles from the weather elements such as snow, rainstorms, strong sun rays, strong winds, and the likes. So if you don’t have space to store your car in a permanent garage, for now, a temporary shelter for winter is the next best solution you should consider.

Three Tips for Using a Portable Garage

Bravo! Finally, you own your first portable garage. Not only will your vehicle be protected from the harsh outdoors, but you’ll also gain valuable storage space. That is to said, with all the benefits that go along with portable garage, there are also some dangers. Keep these safety tips in mind as you set up and use your portable garage.

Keeping a Safe Distance

As you start setting up your portable carport, remember to keep it a safe distance from the house. At first, this might sound ridiculous; you want your portable shelter as close to the home as possible so you can quickly get to your vehicle in inclement weather. As much as this might be true, you also want to keep your home safe from possible car fires. If for some reason your car catches fire, the carport will quickly go up in flames. The last thing you want is your home catching fire, too. This is exactly what happened to a Florida resident when her carport caught fire. Flames quickly spread to the house, but luckily firefighters responded fast enough to put out the flames before they caused any serious damage.

Proper Ventilation

If you have an electric car starter and you like to get the car warmed up or cooled off before you hop in, make sure your portable carport has plenty of ventilation. Just like running a car in a sealed garage, running a vehicle that is parked inside a sealed carport is just as dangerous. Toxic fumes can build up in any sealed up carport when a car is running, causing difficulty breathing and, in extreme cases, death. If you’re planning on letting your car run, make sure you install extra ventilation in your carport. By installing extra ventilation, you’ll ensure that the air is safe from toxic fumes.

Storage

Last but not least, don’t store anything valuable, except your car that is, in your portable carport. The reason for this is simple. If someone is observing your property, they are far more likely to break into a carport than the home itself. That being said, no valuables should be stored in the portable shelter. If you’re using the shelter for extra storage, we recommend that you free up space in your existing garage by moving fewer valuables to the portable shelter.

Why Should We Need A Greenhouse?

To build a greenhouse in your backyard offers many practical and economic benefits, as well as an opportunity to develop a healthy hobby either by yourself or with your family. Modern materials and changes in construction make greenhouses strong, durable, and easy to install. These factors have also caused prices to fall, making greenhouses an affordable option for many.

Growing food in a greenhouse can enhance your family’s food security. You can control the chemicals to which your food is exposed, and it will be available fresher and cheaper than the fruits and vegetables you could purchase at a supermarket.

Storms are becoming more frequent and stronger due to climate change. These storms can damage plants and wash away nutrient-rich topsoil. Growing plants in a greenhouse will help you to avoid the risks of extreme weather, including frost, cool spring temperatures, wind, hail, and snow.

Using a greenhouse can lengthen the growing season. It allows you to start growing seedlings earlier in the season and continue growing crops later than you could if you planted them outside. This can increase the quantity and size of your produce. A greenhouse will allow you to provide your family with fresh fruits and vegetables year-round.

A greenhouse can also protect plants from pests. Insects that live in the topsoil can eat crops, and birds can disturb seedlings when they dig into the soil looking for worms and insects. A greenhouse can keep these pests away from your crops.

In a greenhouse, crops can be grown either in containers or directly in the ground. Growing in the ground allows plants that are susceptible to airborne diseases, such as tomatoes, to grow larger and stronger.

Seeds germinate well in a greenhouse, which will prevent you from having to buy starters at a local nursery. Plants grown in a greenhouse generally have a high success rate.

Portable garage has an extensive selection of durable greenhouses that can help you grow an assortment of healthy fruits and vegetables all year.

The Many uses of Carports

Carports aren’t just for cars. Of course, the main reason that most people

purchase carports is to protect their car or other motor vehicle. But there
are many other uses for carports as well, which is what makes them so
versatile. Just as there are many types and styles of carports, there are
also many ways that they can be used.

One of the most common uses for a carport is as a garage. This can be
accomplished by either attaching a carport to a home or other structure or
by leaving the carport unattached. Carports can protect a vehicle (or extra
vehicles if you already have a garage) from the elements and are useful as
extra garage storage. In fact, the word “carport” and “carport garage
are often used interchangeably, since this is their primary use.

Carports can also be used to house vehicles that wouldn’t fit in an
ordinary garage. Because they can be customized to almost any size, height
or width, they are the perfect solution to protect larger vehicles, such as
recreational vehicles (RVs), big rig trucks or large machinery. Most of the
carports selected for this type of use are metal carports or steel carports.
These are the materials that are the strongest and sturdiest and can
therefore withstand the larger sizes required for these larger vehicles.
Even boats can be protected through the use of carports!

Another popular use is to cover vehicles or equipment that are used in
different locations and that otherwise wouldn’t have a means of shelter or
protection. This is primarily done through the use of portable carports.
Portable carports are more lightweight structures that can be disassembled,
transported and reassembled where needed. Many aluminum carports are
portable because they are lighter weight and easier to transport. Carport
kits are also a great option if you are looking to transport your carport
for use in various locations because they can also be easily taken apart and
reassembled as necessary.

Aside from the various uses of carports for protection and as shelter for
different types of vehicles, carports can also be used for other purposes as
well. Carports are a great solution for storing lawn equipment or other
outdoor equipment and belongings. Some people utilize the garage ceiling
storage space in a stationary garage and that may not work with a carport
unless you have a sturdier model that can hold the weight of items stored on
top, but they can still hold a great deal under the covering of the carport.
And since carports can be ordered with any number of sides desired (1, 2, 3
or 4), you can close in your storage space as much as necessary or keep your
carport open for easy access.

Portable carports are often used as tents when shelter is needed for a large
number of people. In fact, depending on the space, if you just need a
cover without the entire supporting structure, you can just use carport
covers (the top of the carport) if you have a way to affix them to an
existing structure to make a large area of outdoor shelter. If you have a
carport canopy that is made of fabric, it can function well as a tent or
traditional canopy and can still be used for your carport when needed (of
course, if your carport canopy is made of a solid material, such as wood or
steel, this use is unavailable to you).

Carports can even be used to protect livestock or other animals, for hay
storage, or for just about anything that needs covering outside. Another
use for carports is to protect plants during colder months, similar to a
greenhouse.

Carport kits can be ordered and easily assembled for use just about anywhere
outside where you require shelter. You can find carports for sale from many
different manufacturers in a wide variety of styles and materials, and many
can be customized to best fit your needs. Whether you are protecting cars,
other vehicles, equipment, animals, people or plants, there are countless
uses for carports!
